Kansas City Chiefs Acknowledge Domestic Violence Allegations Involving Wide Receiver Rashee Rice

The Kansas City Chiefs released a comment Wednesday night stating they have knowledge of claims of abuse made public in social media posts by a former girlfriend of wide receiver the athlete and were in communication with the NFL.

The team omitted the name of the player by name in their announcement and noted they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.

Allegations Shared on Instagram

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who also did not mention Rice by name, shared a set of images on social media that seemed to depict signs of physical abuse. Jones stated the individual in question was the parent of her kids, and it is known she has kids with the football player, whom the team selected in the 2023 draft.

Police Reports Reportedly Unavailable

Player's Prior Legal Issues

The receiver missed the first six games of this NFL campaign following an NFL suspension for his role in instigating a crash on a Dallas highway that left several individuals injured. He was sentenced a month of incarceration and probationary supervision after entering a guilty plea to felony charges.

Statistically, he concluded the year with 53 receptions for 571 receiving yards and five TDs as the Chiefs finished with a losing record and missed the playoffs for the first occasion in a decade.
